Resource Rangeland Management Program

The Arizona Resource Rangeland Management Program (RRMP) is a five-year program (2020-2025) developed to restore our forests, woodlands, and riparian areas through a process that uses scientific-based resources, technical specialists, and collaboration with other federal agencies; tribal, state, and local governments; private landowners and permit holders; non-profit and non-governmental organizations; and private industry.

Through the RRMP, we can continue to focus statewide partnership efforts on improving the resilience of forest and woodland ecosystems to wildfire, insects, disease, and drought by utilizing methods such as density management, the control of invasive and exotic species, and riparian restoration.

The needs of an area and the conservation practices used are determined by working closely with stakeholders to identify priority and essential projects. Once needs are identified, a conservation plan can help guide the efforts of partners in implementing and monitoring these practices.

Coordinating with the BLM, AACD provides project support to stakeholders through the development of conservation plans, NEPA, completing required Archeological Clearances, and obtaining necessary permits, when applicable.

Biomass is produced from brush management practices. The woody species are mulched down into “biomass” and taken to a facility that processes it for renewable energy.
