Local Work Groups are subcommittees of the State Technical Committee and provide recommendations to the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) on local and state natural resource priorities and criteria for conservation activities and programs.
The purpose of this program is to support data collection pertaining to rangeland use and conservation practices. Monitoring data can be used to assess whether or not a conservation practice has been successful, as well as to help determine what changes in the landscape have occurred over time and what the potential causes of the change are.
Conservation Action Plans provide a comprehensive evaluation of the condition of the natural resource base that will serve as a platform for making decisions about local priorities and policies for conservation programs at the local level.
The ConserveAZ portal was devised by the Arizona Association of Conservation Districts in partnership with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to support Arizona’s Conservation Districts with the development of Conservation Action Plans. District Supervisors and NRCS staff can now access a wide range of diverse data through this unique mapping portal to conduct resource needs assessments, identify resource priorities, track the progress of conservation practices, and develop conservation plans.
